Essexville Electric is changing its name and forming a new community partnership. One thing that doesn’t change, though, is the century-old company’s commitment to providing quality electrical service, unwavering safety and a culture of innovation.
Essexville Electric is gathering its fiber optics, communications, security, generators, and electrical services under one name — ESCON Group. ESCON is an acronym for Electrical Solutions CONtracting.
The new name and a partnership with the Bay-Arenac ISD Career Center will be unveiled during a Ribbon Cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Thurs., Sept. 17 at 6 Johnson Court, Bay City. The community is invited to the Ribbon Cutting.
Bill and Xan Sponseller, ESCON owners, are particularly excited about the partnership with the school. Tiffany Sheppard, Work-Based Learning Coordinator, will work with her students to develop a Generac showroom for ESCON. At the end of the school year, ESCON will host an open house so the public can see the new showroom highlighting generators, power washers, water pumps and other Generac products.
Partnerships, such as this one with a local high school program, are the heart of ESCON.
After nearly 70 years as a trusted electrical contractor and consultant, Essexville Electric has become so much more. Today, the company is a full-service power partner for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. ESCON offers services in fiber (Fiber Fusion), low-voltage, structured cabling, AV and all commercial and industrial (E-Tec) and generators. Even the electric division has expanded over the years by incorporating trusted local companies, such as Sponseller Electric, Thomas Electric and Affleck Electric.
“Over the years we’ve watched as the electric industry had developed from hard line to cloud-based connections, and we’ve added services to help homeowners and corporate companies manage their power service needs. This merger of our traditional and innovative service companies will help us offer clients all of our comprehensive electrical solutions under one brand,” says Bill Sponseller, co-owner, operations manager and director of sales.
The new brand unites varied talented trade specialists under one company name. For current and future customers, it provides a single point of contact for all services. The Generac showroom not only allows customers to see what they’re getting, setting it up is a terrific opportunity for a student.
“It’s about creating an environment that is supportive of the quality of life for our community, our team and our clients. We are encouraging growth through self-improvement,” said Xan Sponseller, co-owner and business director.

About ESCON Group
ESCON Group is a new name for a group of faithful, old friends. In 2014, ESCON formed from a group of Saginaw Bay-area companies already well-known for excellence in fiber optics, communications, security, generators and electrical services. Each company had decades of professional experience in the Great Lakes Bay Region. For our customers, combining the firms means calling one number for all their electrical and low-voltage, structured cabling, AV and commercial and industrial security needs. For our employees, the new company means constant contact with experts in different parts of the power industry. What hasn’t changed since our doors first opened in 1907 is the commitment we make to our customers. Our mission is to ensure confidence, keep you safe, healthy and comfortable at home and at work.
